Bastille Dog
This sweet dog was hanging out with his people yesterday at the Bastille Day block party at Barbette in Minneapolis, MN. Pit bull terriers really get a bad rap, and this guy was the perfect example of how sweet they can be. Just look at that smile!

Aw what a sweetie! What beautiful eyes! I’m so glad you took the time to take this beautiful photo and write the post. I agree completely, pit bulls and even pit bull crosses or staffies crosses that get mistaken for pit bulls get a really bum rap.
I’m afraid that the Pit bull requires a exclusive type of proprietor…these dogs, regardless of how ‘sensitive’ nevertheless have teeth, are nevertheless creatures not having moral ideas and when they DO bite, won’t let go. As in all creatures…some tend to be a lot more suseptable to instinctual behavior and time and time again, this breed tends to do just that.
Actually I’ve found quite the opposite with these dogs. As with most breeds, a bad owner leads to a badly behaved dog. If this breed is susceptible to anything, it’s bad owners, in part because of the stereotype. The pits I’ve been around have all been well trained and extremely well behaved – great with children, and actually less likely to act on instinct than most dogs. They look to their owners to decide how to handle a situation, rather than deciding on their own.
